London Victoria's Secret

The Angels Have Landed in London!

Now as you all know, me and my friend Georgia have an unhealthy obsession with the American underwear brand, Victoria's Secret. In one on my previous posts I stated that I would be heading down to London for the opening of their flagship store on New Bond Street on the 25th of July and soon after this post, me and Georgia booked our train tickets (at the bargain price of £6 return!) down to London for a two night stay. Then just a couple of weeks ago, Vogue posted the sad news that the opening of the flagship store ha been postponed and the new date of opening had not yet been announced. However, we found some comfort in the fact that the westfield Stratford store would still be opened on the 24th of July. So we decided to head down anyway, why waste such cheap tickets?!

We started off our stay with a trip to Brick Lane, this is a photo of Georgia enjoying a curry (she likes it spicy!)then headed back to Epsom, as we were staying with Georgia's auntie who lives there.

To be honest, the shop was amazing! However, they have obviously added a large import fee to the underwear, as the prices were a little excessive however, if you have never tried on a bra by Victoria's Secret I highly recommend it! I tried on a £55 bra and I loved it that much, that I am now in the process of saving up for it!

We decided that we are still going to go to the New Bond Street opening, so if any of you know when the date is to be announced, please let me know!

Swinging to the 60's

60's Obsession

After watching the captivating Karen Gillian in the short film "We'll Take Manhattan" based on the story of Jean Shrimpton and David Bailey in the 60's this morning, my obsession with 60's fashion and it's icons had surfaced yet again, the 60's is my favourite era for fashion and inspirational women. So naturally I sat at my computer, completely inspired ready to look for some 60's fashion. Turning to Topshop as i always do, they now have a collection called "Factory Girl" based on the fashion of the 60's with a modern twist.
These are my favourite picks from this collection.
The over sized tweed jacket is very similar to the ones used in Jean Shrimpton's New York shoot, it is a classic that will never go out of fashion and definitely a good investment.
The playsuit is a beautiful metallic blue that is very this season, giving a modern twist on a 60's classic.

The Over- Sized for the Super- Cool

"The Rise of the Over-Size"

So have any of you fashion fanatics read this months vogue? If you have then you will already be writing yourself a shopping list for A/W key trends and pieces. And if you haven't then here is a guide to my favourite trend for next season, Over- Sized.

You may have already noticed the increase in boyfriend coats and blazers in high street chains such as topshop and zara, this is because the catwalks have been flooded with over-sized items. So throw away your shoulder pads and tight fitted jackets (or put them in the loft for now) and witness the super cool, slouched shouldered, loose fitted new trend that has the fashion elite over-excited

The Key Pieces

This jacket by Simone Rocha is a perfect way to do over sized easy, with some low heeled loafers and cute white ankle socks, this outfit could go from catwalk to street style.

Over size outer layers are much easier to style than over sized clothing as skinny girls often look drowned and curvy girls look frumpy. This ensemble by Chloe is a good starting point, use lighter colours so you don't look like the clothes are wearing you and elasticated waist lines provide a good break in the fabric.

Styling

Obviously this trend doesnt lend its self to excessive amounts of jewellery or lavish high heels, this is a casual look for the most part. However! Do not go over size crazy! One or too piece per outfit only! Enjoy.
